Lace Scarves

$150.00

The newest pieces in our farm-raised knitwear line are lace knitted scarves which are available in two designs: ladder lace and lacy lace.

The ladder lace has a vertical stripe design; the lacy lace has a more traditional lace pattern.

These scarves were designed and machine knit by New Era Fiber in Tennessee using our herd’s suri alpaca fiber. Both styles are approximately 12 inches wide and 60 inches long. These lightweight 5.6 ounce scarves provide superior warmth and style without bulk. Both designs extend a lovely drape while maintaining the beautiful stitch definition.

Each piece has been hand dyed using plants and flowers (denoted in parenthesis) for a truly one-of-a-kind, heirloom garment.

We are exceptionally proud that all but one color (purple) was derived from plants and flowers grown on the homestead. Logwood is a bushy, thorny tree grown in Mexico, Central and South America and parts of Africa - we use a powdered logwood extract to obtain lavender and purple colors. We're also pretty pumped about the red/pinks as those were obtain from homestead grown madder root - which utilizes the root of the rubia tinctorum plant. It takes approximately 3 years of root growth to produce sufficient dye pigment - this was our first harvest of madder which we planted in the dye garden in 2015!

100% American made with pride!
